Peace Proms

The fifth class children went to Peace Proms on Saturday 2nd of February. Peace Proms is comprised of a cross border orchestra of young students and 2000 strong primary school children's choir. The children learned 16 tracks and actions to perform on the big stage in the RDS. It was an amazing night for both the audience and the children!

Music Session at St. Killian's C.S.

5th class went to St. Killian’s as part of their Art and Culture week to have a music session with some of the 4th year students. They were learning various sea shanty songs. They were practicing rounds and harmonies. It was a lovely experience.

Christmas Plays and Christmas Concert 2023

The children wowed both parents and staff with their fantastic talent this Christmas. The Early start, Junior and Senior Infants performed plays in the school and the 1st class to 6th class children performed class pieces in St. Fergal’s church.

Crazy Hair Day and Art For All day

We had a really hectic day! We had the most exciting crazy hair day as a fundraiser for our parents association. We had some amazing styles, take a look at some of our great ideas from various classes. We also participated in Art for all day, where we created art throughout the day, with our class teacher and other teachers within the year group. It was lots of fun!

Science Week

We celebrated Science Week last week. Classes participated in a variety of science experiments throughout the week. We also visited the science room to explore a set of specific experiments. It was lots of fun.

Forensic Science

The fourth, fifth and sixth class were fortunate to have Gary into visit. Gary is a forensic scientist. He set up a scene of robbery and the children had to investigate who stole the diamond. Through this scene, they learned about DNA and how they find it, examining finger prints and how every persons are unique and each finger has a different code. They also looked at foot prints and how unique each of them are. The children were fascinated and so engaged!

Aveline and Barbara's retirement assembly

We are very sad to say good bye to Aveline and Barbara/ Ms. Bennett. Aveline, one of our school secretaries is retiring after 40 years in our school. Barbara or Ms. Bennett depending on how you knew her, was in our school for 30 years. We presented some lovely gifts and the children from Fifth and Sixth Class wrote a poem for each of the ladies. Thank you for everything you have done for our school, you will be greatly missed. Mr. Creamer and Ms. Gleeson played the tin whistle and the violin for all of the children and the children sang a couple of songs. We also showed off our amazing costumes.

Hurling Blitz 12th October

The Boys from Fifth and Sixth Class were lucky enough to be invited to the Allianz Participation Blitz in Bray Emmets on Thusday 12th October. Scoil Chulann, St. Cronans, Greystones Educate Together, St Laurences and our school were the participating schools. We had great fun and managed to win a couple of matches. Well done to all those who participated and thank you to the parents who supported the children and provided the transport for the children

European Space Agency

We had a zoom call with Juan Miro on Monday 9th October. Juan Miro works with the European Space Agency. It was so interesting to learn about the I.S.S., the International Space Station, how it works, who works there and what its job is. He also talked about his work. He is involved in designing the rockets that brought the different parts of the Space Station up into Space and for bringing the astronauts up to space. He also talked about the selection process for an astronaut and the type of work they have to do before they go to space. Lucky us.

Camogie Blitz

Our school were invited to participate in the Allianz Camogie participation blitz in Bray Emmets. We played against Scoil Chualann, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, Greystones Educate Together, St. Laurence’s, St. Brigid’s, Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh and St. Joseph’s. We enjoyed the experience of getting involved and practicing our skills. Well done 5th and 6th Class Girls. Also thank you to the parents who supported the children by dropping and collecting them from the Blitz.

Fifth Class Talent Show

The Fifth Class children participated in a Talent Show. The children showed such dedication and excitement in preparing for the show. There was a wide variety of talents displayed from football and basketball, dance and baton, human bowling, magic tricks, live drawing skills, singing and instrument playing and everything inbetween! They were amazing

Early Start Battery Collection

Well done to the Early Start children who collected 99 kilograms of batteries this year. These batteries will be recycled and the money raised will be donated to Laura Lynn Hospice Foundation.

The School Garden

We have had great success growing in our school garden this year. We could not have done it without the help of Joe and Dennis. We sold some of our home grown produce as a fundraiser to continue supporting our garden and Ms Gleeson's 5th Class made gooseberry jam with the gooseberries. We are so lucky to have such a fabulous space to grow so many fruits and vegetables.

Basketball Tournament

Our yearly Mary Bailey basketball tournament is currently underway.

Sixth Class took part in play off semi finals and finals and had a great time participating in the competition . The finals were very exciting and enjoyed by the whole school.

This years winning teams were The Teletubbies and the Ghandis Minions! Well done to all that participated!

Assembly for Mr O Brien

We celebrated wonderful 40 years of Mr O Brien in our school. He has brought so much kindness and compassion to our students. His love of Gaelic Games has had such a positive impact on our school along with his passion for exploring nature, gardening and using the environment and the children’s interests to support their learning. Thank you for everything you have done for our school

Tommy and Sofiia

Today was Tommy's last day with us. Tommy is an amazing man who is well loved and respected by every member of our school community. He has taught all the children GAA skills throughout the year and they have come on so much throughout the year. Thanks so much for all your hard work Tommy.

We also say a fond farewell to Sofiia, our teacher from Ukraine. Sofiia has been such a wonderful support to the students who arrived this year from Ukraine and to the class teachers working with these students. We were so lucky to have you this year and we wish you well on your next adventure.

Wobble Circus

We were lucky enough for Wobble Circus to come to our school and visit 1st Class and 5th Class. The children got to explore with diablos, hat tricks, juggling, spinning plates, hoola hoops, feather wands and even got to go on the tightrope. We really enjoyed getting our creative juices flowing in a whole new way
