We were very lucky to get our Fire Station visit in before the schools closed. The children were given a chance to wear a real fireman's hat, examined the different equipment in the fire truck and got to sit inside the fire engine! Our visit was cut a little short as the firemen/women got a call and had to go! It was all very exciting! Thank you so much to Bray Fire Station for having us!
Junior Infants were bouncing with excitement when the pancakes arrived yesterday.
Huge thank you to Emma and the Parents Association for organising such a delicious event!
Big thank you to all who were able to make it to our Junior Infant nativity play. We are very proud of all of the children for putting on such a super performance. Have a look at our little stars!
Irish dancing classes will be starting back on Tuesday 5th September this year. Claire knows the boys and girls of St. Fergal's very well as she prepares them for our annual céilí. All abilities are catered for!
This year Claire is also offering an adult class, see below for details!
We had another fantastic summer camp this year. Take a look at some of the fun we had!! :)
All week there have been mini Gaelic matches going on at breaktimes. All teams had players from Junior Infants up to 3rd class. It was a great way to mix and learn skills from older classes.
The final was on today, Galway vs Monaghan.
It was a very exciting match!

It was a tight game with Monaghan coming out as the final winners.
The match was very delayed as it was a draw for so long. Apologies to all the Junior and Senior Infant parents who were waiting. We did expect the match and prize giving to be finished by 1.30. Like a typical All-Ireland final that was not the case!
Huge well done to all involved and to Joe, Ger, Ms Brady, Mr Moloney and Mr O Brien for organising the competition.
There were even Irish dancers there to entertain us at half time!
Well done to Monaghan who won and well done to Galway who were winning till the end.

Junior Infants went on a trip to the playground today.
The weather was so lovely and we've been working so hard it was time for a treat!

For Active School Week we had hip Hop Dancing with Sly today.
Ms Egan's class were lucky to be the first dancers!

Senior Infants had great fun in Aistear recently learning all about the Fire Station. We were very busy putting out fires, filling in incident forms and constructing fire engines!
Ms Stewart's and Ms Thorpe's class are learning about space. They made a brilliant Space Station to explore our solar system.

Today we visited the Science Room accompanied by visitor from the Heritage Council Grace Guard. We sowed many seeds including. "Morning glory,sweet pea, cress,carrots and much more! We also prepared some vegetables to sow in the raised beds in our yard so we will have lots of vegetables to harvest in Autumn Time!
Today was World Book Day. It was a great day. The children made a huge effort to dress up as various characters from their favourite books. There were lots of genres of books discussed such as story books, factual books, annuals and comics. We talked about the characters in stories and what some of our favourite stories were. Some of the older classes did paired reading with the younger classes and each class took part in DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) for some time. The younger classes had an assembly to show off all their costumes. Don't the children look wonderful!?!

Ms Egan's class had a very exciting day for Pancake Tuesday.
We talked about what is used to make pancakes.

We had lots of toppings to choose from.
While we were waiting to get our pancakes we did a colouring competition and listened to an audio story called Mama Panya's Pancakes.
Everyone was delighted with their pancakes!
We gobbled them up super quick!
Huge well done to all children pictured for winning attendance awards! Children received certificates for missing only 1 or 2 days of school and many children received certificates for 100% attendance!!!
Next week we invite parents/ guardians of Junior Infants back to the classroom to discuss how phonics are taught in the class and to get involved in a phonics activity with your child.
Notes have been sent home - please return the slip at the bottom of the letter stating who will attend for your child.
